Dear Students of NTU and NIE!!
The NTU toastmaster’s club is organizing an event “NTU-NIE Speech Contest 2009” for NTU and NIE students. The event will act as a steeping stone for hidden talents and to reach-out to them. Public speaking can be intimidating at first thought, but don’t let your fears limit your potential! We hope that all students of NTU and NIE will take this opportunity to come together and learn from one another.

Drop by our booths at:
9-10 Feb: Can A (Mon-Tues)
13 Feb: Can B (Fri)
16Feb: NIE (Mon)
Prelimimaries: 18-19 Feb: Seminar Room 13 (18:30 – 21:00 hrs)
Finals: 13 Mar: LT8 (18:30 – 21:30 hrs)
For fairness of the contest, the contest is only open to non-Toastmasters. The preliminaries will require you to come up with a short prepared speech of 5-7 mins, and you can speak about anything under the sun! (no explicit content please!)

A registration fee of $2 will be collected on the day of preliminaries. Allocation of timeslots will be done randomly (preference will be taken into consideration). Preliminaries will be a speech to the judges only, whereas the finals is where you give your speech to everyone else! You can either re-use your speech for the finals or come up with new speech material, we leave it all up to you! Judges for both preliminaries and finals will be different!

Dress Code: Casual
Duration of prepared speech (any topic): 5-7mins
Prizes of up to $100 will be awarded to the best speakers and cash vouchers to be won for best table topics speech! Audience votes count for the finals so do bring your friends along to support you! Registration ends 9th Feb.
